Like Giving Birth (Poem)

I don’t miss you,
I really don’t.
I only miss the idea
of a perfect you,
but even that
is a difficult
dream to conceive.
Like giving birth
to a twenty
pound baby.
I’ll never be
the same again,
talk about
a stretch
of the imagination.
I think the scars
will take a
lifetime to heal.
I might even
walk away
a little differently,
but that’s just
how I feel.
